
Brett Blizzard began his basketball journey in Tallahassee, Florida where he was born and raised. As a high school athlete he received Florida’s Class 3A player of the year as well as Big Bend Player of the year in 1999. At the end of his senior season Blizzard’s Florida High School #11 jersey was retired, shedding a glimpse of what was to come in his career. Blizzard continues to hold the record for All-Time leading scorer at Florida High.
Upon graduation he brought his talents to the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he was recruited and played under the direction of retired coach and CAA Legend, Jerry Wainwright, and current ACC head coach Brad Brownell. His collegiate awards and accolades consist of;
Brett Blizzard graduated from UNCW in 2003 with a bachelor degree in Communications. After graduation he began his professional career in Italy. At the end of his 7-year professional stint his career consisted of playing in 2 NBA Summer Leagues (Phoenix Suns, 2004 & Charlotte Bobcats, 2006) a 2004 Legadue Championship, making it to the 2007 Serie A finals, 3 Italian Cup finals (2007, 2008, 2009) and a Euro Challenge FIBA Championship in 2009.
In the fall of 2010 Blizzard and his wife, Megan, returned to Wilmington to open a basketball training facility. Their hope is that Blizzard Athletics will provide the people and youth of Wilmington with a one of a kind basketball experience. Rooted in hard work and determination they strive to create a positive environment for people of all ages to participate and excel.
